Police at Effiduase in the Ashanti Region are questioning a 37-year old woman over Sunday’s death of a journalist with Kumasi-based Kessben TV and Radio.
Florence Osei, also known as Afua Birago, described as the ‘longtime girlfriend’ of the deceased, Confidence Eric Kwadwo Baah, spent the night with him Saturday.
His aunt, who was attending a morning church service saw him unconscious and raised the alarm.
Thirty-two- year old Baah was pronounced dead a few minutes after being admitted at the Emergency Unit of the Effiduase Government Hospital.
News of the sudden demise of the popular radio cum television host spread like wildfire on Sunday, drawing hundreds of curious residents to the station.
Police say Birago and the man she had been in an amorous relationship for about eight years spent the night together Saturday.
The woman however claims she left him at about 4: 30 on Sunday morning.
She told police Baah was in the company of his uncle when he picked her at home from where they visited several drinking bars in Juabeng and Effiduase.
At Effiduase alone, Birago indicates they went to three different places before retiring to bed.
She admits spending the night with the now deceased in her caution statement, but denies any wrong doing.
According to her, they did not even have sex when she realized the man was weak, apparently, from excessive drinking, though that is yet to be established.
Police say the suspect would remain in custody pending autopsy on Monday.
